Tenants want pets

At Rent Happily, we do our best to provide a happy experience to the tenants, and we believe having pets is a great opportunity to have a pleasant tenancy, as stated in this article.

We have a successful track record of properties with pets, and we can say without a doubt that tenants who care for an animal also look better after the property, as they tend to make it a home. Also, the presence of a pet provides company and comfort, which is good for the soul and for the mental health of individuals.

We subscribe to the charity Cats Protection, who asserts that tenants with pets tend to stay longer in their property, and in particular cat owners who care for the environment of their pet. You can find a wealth of information on their website: www.cats.org.uk

When the landlord is willing to accept a pet in their property, we supply an Addendum to the Tenancy Agreement -to be electronically signed by the tenant(s)- which contains clauses regarding the care of the pet and the property, and explaining the tenants’ responsibilities.

In addition to the general requirements of the Addendum, we also suggest a couple of options to reassure the landlord: they could ask the tenants to pay one extra week of rent towards their deposit, making it 5 weeks instead of a month, and/or we could get them to contract an Accidental Damage Pet Insurance to cover for potential damages to the property, for extra security. The final conditions are up to the landlord and we will adapt the conditions of the agreement to their requirements.
